If you have never judged a contest Let me just say the first one blows your mind As a judge in a contest I do not look for perfection I look for the meanings behind the poem Perfection is for perfect people and I am far from perfect When I read Shakespeare’s poetry I do not count the syllables Nor do I look to see if it has been formatted I read the content and try to feel what he is saying to me Poetry is a message straight from the heart and each is different If poems were delivering all the same massages tell me Who would read them? The only bad poem is an unread one not one out of alignment If you don’t write from the heart then you are just writing a letter
