Judas Iscariot
They asked: “Why did you seal His death with a kiss?
What did He ever do to you?”
“Well the truth is, is that I was sent
To make sure Master did what He was supposed to do
I made sure that He would save the world
Through the Crucifixion, through His blood
It broke my heart to see him die in pain
If I could’ve saved Him, believe me I would”
They then asked: “But you sold Him for thirty pieces.
Shouldn’t the King be worth more?
But I laughed and said, “Ah ha you’re wrong
For I threw the thirty pieces on the floor
The Master was ‘betrayed’ for free
I could not put a price on His head
I could not bear the thought of knowing
My Teacher would soon be dead”
The last question they asked was:
“Do you think you’ll go to Heaven after what you’ve done?”
I thought for a while and answered, “I hope so
For I was God’s chosen one.”
They smiled as they departed
I prayed they finally understood me
And guilt finally devoured my soul
And I hung myself on a tree
