Fireworks gloried the sky with dazzling colors Of red, white, and blue, ushering in the new year And I raised a glass... In jubilant joy, jubilant joy, I tell ya! Once, a few springs ago, I went for a walk In a soothing rain and jumped Up and down a water puddle With jubilant, jubilant joy, I tell ya! Last night, I looked up at the crescent moon It was smiling at me like such a happy child And I spontaneously combusted With jubilant joy, jubilant joy, I tell ya! I've wondered into a glorious Autumn noon Sighing with fallen leaves. I threw a handful Up in the air, and they rained down on me And I felt jubilant joy, jubilant joy, I tell ya! Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Richard Lamoureux (Winner: 4th Place) Date submitted: 05/05/2019 I wrote this upbeat carpe diem poem to welcome 2019, and I thought it deserved more than an "honorable mention"
