Joyous Christmas
Evergreen pine adorned like lace
Tassels of joy, warming an embrace
Streetlights in gold beam all around;
While snowflakes tap a Christmas sound.
Neighbors knock with pastries and wine
Mother sets table, eve divine!
Greetings of peace we all bestow
While angel on tree sheds her glow.
Kin huddles where a manger dwells
To lift dreams,” Praise Emmanuel”
A night of magic when choir-boys sing,
“Joyful thanks for Your christening.”
By midnight we open each small gift
Wonders excite , hearts are adrift;
Till pillows hush delighted eyes
Dad in red costume laughs, "Surprise!"
