Joy Robber

The Bible promises the believer
a life filled with God's joy
produced by the holy spirit within
from this joy, we are the receiver

But many things stop this coming
the evil one wants to take it away
making us miserable, out to destroy
for He knows it's energy to fill our day

The world also lures us in its way
tempting us with carnal pleasures afloat
so we sail along in its foolishness
pulling us to yes their election vote

But also our own self in our flesh
is a joy robber wanting first place
so stand firm hold on in His mercy
His joy is ours by God's grace

I'm reminded of an old song called "Covenant Woman". I forget right now who sang it but I love that song. One verse,"I'm a Covenant Woman living on the blessings of my God and King."
