Joy Found In Simple Things

We thought we lost the simple gift of toy,
The past turning years then quietly met us,
At last we found our treasure, bright and dear,
And learned our hearts had kept it all each day.
You claim such light must surely mean we’re dumb.
For life is rich with signs we come to know,
That joy returns when open hearts say yes.

Believed the loss had drained away our joy.
And showed our feet a wiser, humbler course.
A joy made whole the moment we could share,
Wonders that make us silly, laugh so gay
Than walking on through life half-dead and numb.
In time it lifts the truths it means to show,
Staying warm of heart is wiser off guess
