Joy and Despair
JOY AND DESPAIR
It can give me great joy, composing a verse
On the days the rhythm just flows from the pen.
But on other days I sit and curse,
As I try the same stanza again and again
On the days the rhythm just flows from my pen,
I feel I can conquer the world with my rhyme.
As I try the same stanza again and again,
Then I find the whole process a waste of time.
I feel I can conquer the world with my rhyme.
Just like the poets in days of yore.
Then I find the whole process a waste of time,
When the muse has deserted me once more
Just like the poets in days of yore,
On good days I feel the creation burn.
When the muse has deserted me once more,
I can only hope it will soon return
On good days I feel the creation burn.
But on other days I sit and curse,
I can only hope it will soon return.
It can give me great joy, composing a verse
