Journey Or Destination

What must he do to unearth a day,
a day when he may pause?
His soul is tamed.
His essence drained.
Where is that day of lull?

He exists to labour in his material world.
A starving wallet as his reward.
His past is spent.
His future taxed.
His greed desires more.

He wonders through the roads of life.
Exhaustion shackled to his wealth.
Stay left. Turn right.
He has no map.
Lost and all alone.

His smiling eyes have lost their grin.
Dreams of family beyond his grasp.
He bids to love.
He cannot share.
It’s seems its all in vain.

His depleted youth is all but gone.
Life’s journey void of cherished times.
The days are short.
The years compressed.
Life and time so intertwined.

What must he free to realize this day,
a day when he may change his path?
A cross road is here.
Time draws near.
He must begin to be.
