Journey of the Lost

Colder, deepening wounds
Unsettling to wake in this room
The mirror’s depth picks up my scent
The smell of hate: a deeper descent

I want to know I can escape
I need to live without all this hate
But with my shield I block out the sun
Deeper now…. Can I overcome?

The dark rolls in to challenge my sight
My shield fades, but my mirror holds light
The words I speak travel so far
The whispers come, and so I depart

Angels laugh, pointing the way
The mirror fades; the whispers now pray
I close my eyes and I turn around
I am alone in the devil’s playground

Weakening, so peacefully lost
The whispers grow; my heart is absorbed
I need to know I can still feel
The whispers sing…. My heart becomes real

Waking now, I see through the night
With clarity I make my own light
I walk alone, but my heart sings with you
The world is bright; our hope is the proof
