First things first, I love you son
It doesn't matter the things you've done
I loved you before I knew you
and the all the years that you grew
into an amazing young man, that you never saw
you only could see the pain that was raw
I loved you through the trauma
and every single drama
through the harsh words and arguments
and loving words and sentiments
through your last act
and all the pain of loss and the deep crack
that you left in my heart and soul
because without you, I feel like I am playing a role
I don't know how to be your mother
when you are in heaven and I'm here, it feels like I will smother
I can't take a deep breath
and the air never feels fresh
it is stale and boring without you here
I love you so, and miss you, dear!

Congrats on your win in my contest Kathleen! I can not imagine the pain of such a loss of a child. Your poem is raw genuine and so emotive! Thanks for sharing it with us!
