In oils, pure alchemy on canvas

For in the world of art

Good morning my friend! A well contrived NONET. I'm not familiar with the work of Joseph Wright... I must check him out. Best wishes, Keith

Check out 'a philosopher lecturing on the Orrery', 'The iron forge', just two examples of his mastery of depicting light in oils. regards, Viv

Hopefully you'll have time to get something in before close, Andrea, it will be interesting to see what your fave artist is. After Joseph Wright, my second is U.S portraitist Everett Raymond Kinstler- I've been a huge fan for many years. Viv x

Thanks, Scott, check out his other works in Google, but avoid the insipidly coloured uploads- they don't even come near the real McCoy, as hung in our local gallery. Thanks for dropping by. Regards, Viv

Yes, Rhonda, he is a master, and we are very privileged to have his original works here in Derby at the art gallery. I strongly recommend works of his such as 'the iron forge', 'a Philosopher lecturing on the orrery', and 'Vesuvius in eruption' (but when Googling, look for photos with the rich colour saturation, as some of the images posted are dreadful). As usual, you can't beat seeing the real thing up close. Viv x
