Jonah

He carries his troubles wherever he goes The curse he conceals too easily shows They shrink back in fear as the black tumor grows He carries his troubles wherever he goes He carries his troubles wherever he goes He refused to re-pay the debt that he owes Throw him to the fish as the raging wind blows He carries his troubles wherever he goes (I carry my troubles wherever I go The curse I conceal too easily shows They shrink back in fear as my black tumor grows I carry my troubles wherever I go)

This one causes me to feel the weight of each line, and it tugs the heart. I can't help but think the weight of the world sometimes feels like ours to own....but shared, the burden is less burdensome.... wow. You can easily make me laugh, but you can also make me bleed with your poetry. Always wonderful.:)

I like this! It flows and has rhythm like a good folk song.

Tim, perhaps it's time to put the past behind and eradicate that "black tumor." This is more easily said than done, but I'm sure that if you stepped outside to feed shrimp to the fish and welcome the power of a "raging wind," your heart would heal. Very compelling poem. Best wishes for a happy Easter, Carolyn

Found this haunting and very well written. I always liked Jonah... think he has been given a bum rap by a lot of people who are a little or a lot like him.

Thanks my friend...Like you I always liked Jonah and very much identify with him, mostly because of our common bond...I used to feel like I was 'one of those who' if you know what I mean...
