John the Baptist
*Matthew 3:1-3 “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.”
Exemplifying the Holy Ghost’s might
Born and nurtured with miracles’ delight
He preached repentance of redemption light…
John the Baptist* fulfilled his divine right.
Exalting Christ with meek attitude’s glow
As Saviour’s forerunner of courage-show
Baptizing the Son amidst blessings flow
“Behold the Lamb of God” he proclaimed so.
Exposing faith-propped martyrdom indeed
He was beheaded for his righteous deed
Defying lustful, selfish, haughty greed
Triumphant till now with his good works’ breed.
