John, the Baptist

Praises for the prophet John, many believers found to laud
For he was the one to prepare the way for the Son of God
John urged his listeners to repent for each wrong doing
However, some thought him to be the Messiah, miscontruing.

John the Baptist said, "I am not the Christ. I am the voice
crying in the wilderness to make way for Jesus, God's choice
to be baptized as His son in waters of the Jordan River.
It is I who will be called the Baptizer. This task I shall deliver.”

In the fall of 29 C.E. John fulfilled his promise with joy
but there was one who hated him and sought to destroy
the man who preached. A woman who wanted his life,
and had him beheaded as a gift. It was King Herod's wife.

The story of the last prophet beheaded by an evil queen and king. You gave us a synthesis of his famous story. Well done Lin.

This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ ” Matthew 3:3 NIV But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” Matthew 17:12 NIV Love your beautiful poem of Truth, : )
