Jewish Arbor Day
The holiday has arrived
The cheery festival of Tu'Beshvat
Concern for nature's gifts
lives on amongst
the Jewish people
I recall an old cherry tree
behind my home
I was saddened
when they finally
cut it down
The gifts of nature
should not be regarded lightly
Le us rejoice
and feast on
dried fruits, almonds and figs
We will enjoy
this Jewish Arbor day
Shalom, yes shalom
at this joyous time
in the Jewish year
Let's hope the world understands
the nature of this holiday
we should all
pause for a moment
to take joy in nature's bountiful
banquet
