L Milton Hankins Poet Quatrain

Jesus 2022

I see yard signs reading JESUS 2022
Scattered throughout the neighborhood
     Confused, I wonder what they mean, too,
     Are they merely expressing an attitude?

I’m told they show support for Trump
That some believe he is the Messiah,
     It certainly seems an awkward jump
     For many of us, he is a noxious pariah.

I can’t see Trump appearing on a white horse
Or standing for virtue and principled truth,
     I find him unapologetically crass and coarse
     Not to mention disconcertingly uncouth!

I surely wouldn’t want my neighbors to know
I think Trump and Jesus have anything in cahoots
     For Jesus came in peace and love to bestow
     Jesus taught everything that Trump refutes!

Milton as much as I love my younger brother he Loves Trump and in his eyes he can do no wrong. I have argued with him about Trump. I do not Trust Joe, or Donald, or anyone in high office. They were selected they weren't elected. It doesn't matter who is in office they are just puppets for the ones that rule. To compare Trump to Jesus is being delusional, and really not knowing who Jesus was and what he stould for... L Milton Hankins July 22, 2022 at 8:43 AM I don't understand the whole "Jesus 2022" thing, and find the yard signs disturbing. I don't know whether they are saying "Marantha," or "Elect Trump." I do not find Trump viable in any case. I think he should be barred from running after all that has surfaced about Jan 6th.

Jenna Logan July 21, 2022 at 1:52 PM Well, that just makes me want to barf. I recall in one of his 'speeches,' he said that God wanted him to be president. Sometimes I find it difficult to comprehend how one arrogant man can make such a statement, but then so many of the things he claims are lies. Then, I wonder how so many people who claim to be of sound mind still think Trump has even one decent moral quality inside of him. Trump and Jesus are on opposites sides of any spectrum, and it's to God that he must one day answer. L Milton Hankins July 21, 2022 at 2:03 PM I couldn't have said it better, Jenna, and I didn't! To utter the two names in a sentence is somehow repugnant to me. I simply don't know what these people are thinking, and I'm too shy to knock on their door and ask them.
