Jesus!

If You cause me to walk,
Grant me that very step!

If I look up at the sky,
Grant me that very sky!

When I am sad, allow me to stand in the rain!

Why must umbrellas exist?
Why do they make us reject the tears of God?

I am nowhere,
And I am nowhere here.

I am merely striking up a chord
With the Muse of the Psalms, right inside the Holy Book.

"Thus says the Lord:"
"Did I not command you to worship no other god beside Me?
How dare you, with the god of the Muse..."

"How dare you—"

"Wait! Today, Jim is tired, so I shall take my rest!!"

This is a brilliant piece of free verse! I love how the poem's form shifts from a sincere, passionate prayer to such a surprising and humorous dialogue at the end. The imagery of rain as the "tears of God" and your questioning of umbrellas is deeply thought-provoking. You have beautifully blended raw existential longing with a playful, conversational tone that makes this an incredibly refreshing and memorable read.❤️
