Jesus

He didn't die for our sins,
He died because we couldn't wake up.

We didn't crucify ourselves enough,
We Just filled up our own cups.

Waiting patiently for a physical figure to return,
That was never the message,
It makes my stomach churn.

He asked us to understand we were one in the same,
No worship was needed,
No rules and regulations, in which our lives are framed.

He would've sat with you while you were broken,
And took yourself to the abyss,
To process yourself and for you to come home,
Because yourself, you deeply miss.

He never left my dear friend,
He was waiting for you to return,
To yourself and to your capabilities,
And to understand that it's now your turn,

An awakened man, a super human, a prophet, never the only divine.
Religion used to bring me joy, it now sends resentful shivers down my spine.

God was never separate,
We aren't just meat suits my friend, this I will shout.
We are experiencing this physical world,
Our souls capable of the superpowers we read about.

How many of us would have put him up there?
Stood by, scared to speak out.
Too much harm in human judgement,
And in silence, without a doubt.

My brother, he's always with me,
Especially when no one else is,
I'll sit and process with him,
Whether it's over coffee or beer.
