Jenny's Gems

So shy was she – this woman he had met by chatting sometimes on the internet. She had to work while raising on her own two children whom she often left alone because she worked two jobs to make ends meet. And though the kids were teens, she felt defeat for rarely getting to spend time with them. He got to know her better. Such a gem was Jenny, whom he wished that he could see. He knew her mostly from the poetry she posted, but she rarely could find time to work the magic that she made with rhyme. It came to him how he might make her smile. He gathered up the poems in her best style and got them printed in a pretty book. Painstakingly he did this work. It took him seven weeks. Right before her birthday he sent it out before time got away! The book arrived. The girl he now knew well went out to see it sitting in the mail. The title was so sweet tears filled her eyes. Now “Jenny’s Gems” is her most treasured prize. May 20, 2021 For the All Yours (Jun 14) Poetry Contest of Brian Strand

Andrea, you are the gem. You lay it out so clearly, I fear if it is not true then it may be a cry. So sad if that is so. So great if the story is true. This kind of awakened sentiment cannot help but find a kindred spirit. It's in everything you've written that I've seen but none more openly than this one. Poetic hugs.

I love your story poems. They are lonely without a book of their own. This is one of them. Thank you for sharing. Meanwhile, I just wrote my 8 contest poems for the day. Thanks for the inspiration! Luv, Bryan

Hi Andrea, her name is Jenny and his love for her and his endearing nature won her over - my husband was in my heart always from our early twenties, although married another and divorced still always thought of Elias until he phoned our offices on day in May 20 years ago, and I overheards our receptionist, saying who may I say is calling and when she said Elias Proxenos, i knew this was for real, we got married on the 10th December 2000. I'm so glad for your friend Jenny. Hugs, blessings Jenn.

Andrea, The best birthday present; the one they never expected. I like your use of the painstaking 'seven' weeks it took to craft it. My niece sent a similar wonderful gift for my birthday. It too was a book of poetry. One titled 'Where the Sidewalk Ends'. -Richard

I think you did not understand it right. She is a rhyming poet who has no time to write like she wants to.
