Jason

Jason said people who don't eat meat become dumb.
your body craves meat it nourishes the brain, keeps
it young. I agreed munching on that all beef juicy
hamburger, meat is good.
When I was feeling blue and tired Jason told me
you need to come over to our land, bathe in the cold creek
water, it has healing power for what ills you.
I nodded but never did.
Jason asked for gas money, needed around ten bucks
gave him a twenty.
You can give me change the next time I see you.
It was three weeks and forgotten when I saw him again.
Why ask? it was gone for good.
Jason would say it is what it is whenever he goofed up
life goes on enjoy the ride.
He traveled a lot. Would take off in his old Chevy and be gone
for weeks at a time, went where ever on a hope and a prayer.
Somehow people took to him, he never did without
Jason could spin a story and talk both ears off.
Asked him once what tribe he was, he told me
but I never heard of it and can't remember their name.
Small tribe not many left. He was a big man, not fat at all
tall and broad shoulder, body shaped like a triangle.
Had diabetes so many people do now days.
Jason loved the ladies, if a pretty girl came near
he would run you over to talk to her and talk he did
The ladies would smile and laugh he always had something
humorous to say, funny story in reserve.
Hadn't seen Jason in awhile, was beginning to wonder
about him.
One day a guy I saw him with once asked me
did you hear about Jason? No I responded
He went to the Indian hospital cause he felt really bad
doctor was not in and he sat in the waiting room for hours.
When they came to check on him he was dead.
Couldn't believe it, didn't want to. Was numb.
Thank you for telling me. It was awhile back
I had missed his funeral to, would have gone if I knew.
Jason heart of gold always with a story to tell.
That night for dinner had a big juicy steak in his honor.
Peace, my brother, peace.
