January

Where I walk snow covers and blankets
And softens under my shoe
To a quiet crunching
Filled with cold lingering nights
Above a sky so crisp and star spangled
A dreamy vision so entangled
With hopes of an early spring
Such impatience
For me
For nature knows her time
For all that is green shall climb
Bringing forth and shine
A site
For me
In spite
But for now I walk
With a shiver
Up my back
And bask upon the sliver
Hue
Of a January night
