Jaded Dreams

a strange dense fog
keeps consuming my mind
trapping me in a mucky bog
I can't seem to leave behind
      a thick sticky mist
      clings to my every dream
breath of the frog I kissed
      before he hopped down stream
an evil taunting fairy tale
haunts each sleeping hour
a romanticized version of hell
is beginning to devour
what lingers in my heart's core
      the last remaining sliver
      of all sweet hope for
      my happily ever after

Great especially the second stanza. We expect frogs to turn into a delicious prince but alas frog breath clings and haunts! Nicely done, Christy!

Some days are just like that, foggy and so hard to see anything worth while up ahead, but that fog will clear and your happily ever after will be waiting for you in the bright sunshine of a new day. Wonderfully expressed Christy
