Jacob's Ladder
Descending and ascending
From Heaven to earth
To minister to those
Who will speak God's Word,
Angels are guardians
And quickening spirits;
Descending and ascending
The Ladder that bridges
Heaven and earth
These flames of fire,
Like lightning, hit their marks
With storms and rains
Descending and ascending.
These messengers sent
From Heaven to earth
By just One Stairway
Through portals and gates
Bring swords or peace.
Descending and ascending
A little higher than men,
Angels speak to us
And strengthen us.
They bare us up
As we follow the Lord
Descending and ascending.
