I'Ve Gathered Your Flowers

"I'VE GATHERED YOUR FLOWERS"

the wine runs down
the back of my neck.
my head bows and my
arms open wide.
the bottle has kept
this madness glorious.
I drink as I gather.
your death is my life.
my life is your life.
here’s your second
chance.
be good to it.
the word is mightier
than the sword.
rest in pieces to who
you were.
congratulations to who
you’ve become.
my hand cups your
breast as we cap the
night.
where crashing water
flows, I collect the
flowers from your
death.
I hide them in dirt
and the sunlight that
came up on our first
morning, gave you
flight.
