It's Not What I Was

It’s not what I was, It’s what I am. Past glories count for naught, For it’s the now that matters. The past is just history, Just hooks to entangle me In a web of unreality, That’s not right and true. What’s right and true is to forget Of past successes and failures And be the best I can be today. Strive for it and don’t waste time in the past, For the past is done, The past is gone. It’s only the present that’s not an illusion, And I won’t waiver in my new vision.
