It's Not My Day
IT'S NOT MY DAY
Woke up this morning,
Somewhere around four.
Foot caught in the blanket,
I fell on the floor.
Couldn't get back to sleep,
So I went for a walk,
Got caught in the rain,
My skin white as chalk.
Went to take a hot bath,
But could not find the plug,
So I took a hot shower,
And tripped on the rug,
Getting out of the shower,
To dry off and dress,
And get ready for work,
I must look my best.
Could happen to anyone,
I say with a sigh,
As I examine the bruise,
Found there on my thigh.
Feeling much better,
I brush out my hair,
And put on my make-up,
With practiced care.
I look pretty good,
In the mirrored wall,
Things will get better,
In spite of it all.
I get in the car,
And head off to work,
Forgetting about,
The stain on my shirt.
Went right through the light,
On the corner of Main,
Here comes the cop,
I'll be late again.
Accepting my ticket,
I smile and say,
What else can happen,
It's just not my day.
