It's Not Goodbye

Turning away
Walking so slow
Never wanting to say goodbye
I’d rather say goodnight
And pretend time can stand still
And stay here forever
With you here
As your face is staring at me
From across the room
Smiling and reminding me
Of a time way back when
A time when I was your protector
A time when you were my best friend
Free to be
Carefree
And free
Running, playing, laughing
And wishing on a star
Thinking it’s not too late
To say I love you
This time
It’s not goodbye
It’s just goodnight
