It's Never Enough

it's never enough
wounds heal to make
flesh tough
leave scars to conceal
giving another impression
of what is real.
i am inanimate, i
cannot feel- i stand
strong like the trees,
swaying thru the wind's
breath, solemn & secure
as death. i envy
your emotion, the
incessant commotion of
time, yet i can't help but
pity you & the destinations
you may never find. i
do not dare care, for
living is never fair- my
sense is a presence,
instants on the surface;
it's never enough
to soften the rough
skin, the wear & tear
comes from within.
