It's Hard To Be a Woman
It's hard to be a woman, I confess
Must care about your looks, your walk, your dress
you're told time and again, you're meant to please
and so you wax, and shave, and pluck and tweeze
It's hard to be a woman, I confess
you need time to dress up AND to undress!
Your dainty negligee's there to entice
when love is done, you rush to add the spice
The soup is bubbling over, must work fast
desert's still baking, make the supper last
when supper's done, the kitchen you must clean
And God forbid if you've no time to preen
Before they're all tucked in, make sure to pray
That you will shine at work and then at play
You get between the sheets and sweetly sigh
"My lover dear, close eyes, I'm close nearby
And should you wake from sleep and need some cheer
the kind that man all need from ladies dear
Well, then reach out and fill your every whim
Just let me sleep on through, keep those lights dim
I need to wake up early, feed the clan
and put away each dish and pot and pan
I need to rush to work to serve my boss
If I'm not there on time, oh, he'll be cross
Before the day is done, I'll get a wax
In fight against those hairs, I can't be lax
Perhaps I'll get back home by half past six
In time to add some nuts to patty mix!"
It's hard to be a woman, night time creams
and aging nightmares clash with youthful dreams
It's hard to be a woman; rub those heels!
make sure you're baby soft, use fancy peels
It's hard to be a woman and play dumb
So's not to scare the macho minded chum
It's hard to be a woman and appease
When no one says, "Thank you", or "Dear", or "Please!"
It's hard to be a woman, but I am
I'll spread that peanut butter and that jam
But I'll not hide the fire in my soul
to make some man feel strong, completely whole
It's hard to be a woman, this I know
that eyes are watching everywhere I go
It's hard to be a woman, glory be
No one can be a woman quite like me!!!
