It's better to have loved and lost

I've heard it said,
"it's better to have loved and lost 
than to have never loved at all".
I disagree with that analogy,
some things are better left unknown,
because now that you're gone,
my heart aches,
and I can't hear a love song
without falling to pieces.
Every time I look around,
I see your face dancing before 
my eyes.
Before loving you,
I never experienced these things.
I had peace of mind.
Yes ..

I've heard it said,
"it's better to have loved and lost 
than to have never loved at all".
I disagree with that analogy,
some things are better left unexplored,
because now that you're gone,
I can't think straight,
and thought I try to be strong
and move on,
it's a losing battle.
I feel so empty inside
and incomplete.
Before loving you,
I never experienced these things.
I had peace of mind.
Yes ..

I've heard it said,
"it's better to have loved and lost 
than to have never loved at all".
But I'm sorry,
I disagree with that analogy,
some things are better left undiscovered,
because now that you're gone,
I feel trapped like the caged bird
in Maya Angelou's poem.
I can't stand this pain,
you've taken away my sunshine,
I can't stand the rain
that seems to fall endlessly nowadays.
I don't care what they say,
"it's not better to have loved and lost 
than to have never loved at all".
After loving you,
my life will never be the same.
