- It’s A Lot -

    When one becomes aged
    there are multiple goodbyes
    than hellos
    In every case of loss,
learn to find peace in farewell

Feel the suction in your stomach
    and the wonderful roar ...
step on the gas ... LIVE ... HELLO !
    I guess all roads eventually
lead back the echo of the silence

A tear in my eye, refuses to fall
Cherish every turn and bump on the road

Hello Anne-Lise, you said it spot on. There’s definitely more goodbyes than hellos. Nicely written, my friend. Wishing you a great new week ahead.

A whimsical yet deep reflection on the passage of time! In a manner not unlike your own, I find resonance in the notion of embracing the quietude that accompanies parting, and in treasuring each twist and jolt along the journey's path.

Dear Anne-Lise, what a funny but profound take on aging! I feel almost the same way as you do - "learn to find peace in farewell", "Cherish every turn and bump on the road".

I sure do Anne, cherish every day, and I take advantage of every speed bump, and treat it like a roller coaster at me age lol, precious words ever written

This is precious. I can't get your physical condition off my mind/heart and I have you in my daily prayers now that I know. So good to see this lighthearted piece and be reminded of how capable and joy seeking you are despite pain. You uplift others, I wish I could aid you. I think you want a 's' on the end of become (1st line).

To me, this poem speaks to the paradox of aging and living: as life unfolds, we accumulate losses (goodbyes), but there is also a fierce impulse to greet life, to push forward, to feel deeply. The “suction in your stomach” is the visceral grief, but the “wonderful roar” and “step on the gas” are the defiance: to say “hello” again in spite of emptiness.
