It Won'T Be Fun Without You

You have to come, one said.
It wouldn’t be fun without you, the second one added.
Yes, yes, please come, the third one pleaded.
I had been to their book club once, a few years back.

They were right.
It wouldn’t be fun without me,
But it wouldn’t be fun with me either.
I had been tricked before.
