Notes About The Poem
This is an early one from my series "My mission in a Poembook" When you serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints you leave home for a period of 18 month to 2 years and during that time you will not be able to see your family and you will only be allowed to communicate with them on Mondays. Which I admit is hard! When I left I was so sure I wasn't going to be super sad. WHO WAS I KIDDING? I was heartbroken. I cried on half the ride to the airport. And waiting for the plane. And for two of the three hours I spent on the plane. I'm pretty sure the flight attendants were worried about me cuz they kept checking in. Leaving home was so hard, but in the end so worth it and I found new friend and had an amazing experience the whole 18 months I was away from home. Hope you enjoy! ~Heather

It Wasn'T Hard To Say Goodbye

It wasn't hard to say goodbye
Until I saw my sister cry
Then so did I
As we drove away.

It wasn't hard to say chaio
To the laugh lines in the brow
Of my Dad who showed me how
As his hug wished me to stay

It wasn't hard to say bonjour
To my mother at the door
As our tears started to pour
In the last hug of the day

It wasn't hard to say adieu
To everything I knew
Looking forward as I flew
To finding my own way.

This is my favorite of your ten, reminded me of my similar experiences, many lives ago. Congrats.

Life's transition to another world that you don't know would have divested me. Change is hard , but also lessons learned. So you came out loving your new world.. that was pretty awesome. Enjoyed reading this great verse. Hugs Eve
