It Was Yesterday
Couldn't have been that long ago,
saw your face in the mirror
glancing back at me,
one last wave goodbye
as I drove away;
slowly,
the memory is haunting
enchanting and promising,
we'd see each other again
sooner than later;
that's what we said,
told ourselves
in the sadness
life
often follows a different path
set in place
by greater powers than ours
by destiny, by God
and unseen angels
now it is only a memory that remains
it was of yesterday
that slipped away.
