It Was Only Words

It was only words

I saw a rainbow, but its colors did not glow
I saw a summer breeze, but it was bitter cold
I heard a bird sing, but its song was full of pain
I tasted your lips but my kiss was all in vain

I heard a child's laughter, and I felt so very old
I cried a lonely tear, from deep within my soul
I saw a falling star, but its wishes were all gone
I felt your touch, but it felt so withdrawn

I smelled a rose, but its fragrance was bittersweet
I felt the sun, but the sunshine had no heat
I looked at the stars, but did not see the sky
I saw a clown, but instead he made me cry

I saw the sunrise, but there was no dawn
I heard a song, but the music and lyrics were gone
I saw th sun set, but I did not see the day
I held you close to me, but you pushed me away

I said a prayer, but it was never heard
I said 'I Love You',...but it was only words

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
