It Was Only a Dream

It Was Only a Dream The days of rush and running; The airport, the hugs the drive. Our special gourmet lunch place. It was only a dream. The twinkling lights, pajama nights, Planning presents, paper crinkling. Lingering laughter, long goodbyes. It was only a dream. Breakfast out and you’re gone. Time is rolling along. I know it was only a dream Of sun spent days, but… Your forgotten present lies on the couch.

A deep and sadly beautiful poem Sunlite. The last line is so lonely and woeful. Your bittersweet emotions are beautifully expressed. A captivating write. Warmest wishes ~Susan

Thank you so much, Chris. I was lonely when I wrote it, having just said goodbye to my daughter's leaving after the holidays.

Such a sad ending... Is this about loss or the end of the holiday system?
