deep in the lake, smooth and shining
“I must feel that stone today”, he said
He swam with lunatic enthusiasm
and straight he climbed on the thing
his dream was immediately broken

a hippo, big, hungry and tired it was
He called creator, ancestors and all
the poor boy ran, flew, swam, plied
but the hippo closed in as if biting
