It Was a Warm Day
It was a warm day
I thought of wading in shallow water
Toes so warm
I thought of diving deep in the ocean
Surfacing gasping; hands so cold
I thought of moving water; in a river
Swimming upstream; or following the stream
I thought of water from above
In the shower; from above and down below
I thought of hail
Like a hand weighting on my shoulder
I thought of rain
Like a hand caressing my neck
I thought of fog
Like whispers behind my back
I thought of warm water
Felt like bodily contact; all over
I thought of cold water
Almost like a farewell; the last farewell
I thought of a mild breeze
Like being soothed; or loved
I thought of a storm
Like being angry; or sad
I thought of ice; on an slippery slope
Like meeting the wall; without an emergency exit
It is autumn; yet warm
I thought of a tropical night
Really; I thought of her
Dancing in the rain; hugging me
