It Was a Good Morning Until

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a very joyous morning for me
Finally my mother-in-law seemed pleased with me

She was not well so I told her "Wake me up if you need anything"
She said "I will sleep well at night I will not need anything"

She gave me a divine smile standing at bedroom door
Morning when I opened it, she was lying dead on the floor 

Once again harsh truth of life in front of me lay
Enjoy every moment of life, limited is our stay

She was a wonderful cook, should have learnt all from her
Realised one shouldn't wait, anytime tragedy can occur

I did my duty, was good even when she was bad
Now my conscience is clear, for my goodness I am glad

This is a sad poem, but it is laced with forgiveness, hope, and peace in your good conscience, a very good lesson to impart to others. Even if she was critical or harsh, you did your best. Then again, if she had not been sick, she went quickly with no pain and gave a divine smile beforehand. Thanks for sharing, Rama. I too had an awakening before my mother died, she sang to me on my birthday and then was gone. You beautifully express the hard relationships that warm into what matters most. Jennifer Proxenos February 16, 2021 at 4:52 AM Hi Rama, when my dad died my mom was 66 . We had a big family home so went to stay with her. She adopted an unusual patriarchal role, and was sometimes nasty with it, Both my Husband and Ricky our youngest wanted to leave, i felt sorry for her, things went from bad to worse until we were eating separately, we cooked, she ate alone, she also got dementia, but 2 weeks before she died a transformation took place, and we became close again. Always critical,and harsh words she would speak. After my father in law passed away she became hard to handle. I cried but from heart never thought or did bad. Now I am happy because I have no guilt within. And I feel after death she finally understood I am good. We should not hurt anyone emotionally. Be good however bad world maybe All are accounted for their sins. You have a wonderful husband. Should be grateful to God

It was not easy but now I am glad and feel good about myself. And after death I feel her blessings are with me, she realised her mistake. God bless! Take care, Rama
