It Seems Like Only Yesterday

It seems like only yesterday . . .
The first time I flew in a plane.
Was over San Francisco Bay;
I felt I’d left the Earth’s domain.

The first time I flew in a plane
I soared into bright heaven’s skies.
I felt I’d left the Earth’s domain,
To see the world through cosmic eyes.

I soared into bright heaven’s skies,
The world below looked, oh-so small.
To see the world through cosmic eyes
Was beautiful, as I recall.

The world below looked, oh-so small—
And even the suburban sprawl
Was beautiful, as I recall;
So beautiful, as I recall.

James, I too remember my first plane ride in exactly this way.
