It Seemed Like a Good Idea At the Time

The spider found a bunch of grapes
that attached flies and bees
She found it a convenient spot
to cast her web to wait and seize

She set her snare
and settled there
between the cloying grapes
and while her prey is unaware
like a thief she takes.

But is a few days.

The vintager came and cut the bunch
so fast that none protest
and put it in the basket
to be trodden with the rest.

and now the snare that she had set
to trap unwilling bees and flies
would be the reason for her doom
her capture and demise.
