It Is Time

Somewhere not very far from me
Is a couple of people I long to meet
Something that has plagued my head everyday
Isn't actually a world away

12 years later I made a move
I'm nearly 30 so I have nothing to prove
But what really can I say
To a family who only found out about me today

Do I say hello, how do you do?
Or is it more why am I here for?
How do I start to say….
I'm your granddaughter…I'm here to say hey

What’s the response I'm really looking for
To be honest even I'm not very sure
But don’t welcome me with open arms
For then I'm sure my heart you’ll harm

Take that step, knock on the door
Maybe I’ll find what I've been searching for
Or maybe all I’ll get to see
Is where I come from and what makes me

It’s a decision I soon must make
I cannot leave this up to fate
watch another 30 years pass by
With always that question; why oh why?

So here I go I'm on my way
My life is going to change today
……..Something that has plagued my head everyday
Isn't actually a world away!
