It Happens That Way

I found you when the moon was full but pale.
Winter's grip had seemed unending that year.
Our first kiss came in the midst of a gale.
At last Spring did come and you were still here.
As the seasons changed I felt something dear
Had entered our lives and had come to stay.
Oh, that still seems like the very first day.
Life went quickly as our love seemed to grow.
At once we were old - it happens that way.
One thing stands certain - I did love you so.
