It Happened

On the day that it happened,
Demons filled the air.
They consumed the world,
using only the hate that was already present.
And love? It was gone,
It never really stood a chance.
On the day that it happened,
The sky grew dark and gray.
It cast a shadow on the Earth,
taking away a warmth that was never really there.
And light? It was gone,
It never really stood a chance.
On the day that it happened,
War reigned the land.
It blood stained the very fabric of time,
using only the current problems, never to be resolved.
And peace? It was gone,
It never really stood a chance.
On the day that it happened,
Noise blasted the ears.
It canceled out any sanity,
consuming our weak minds with blasphemy and curses.
And silence? It was gone,
It never really stood a chance.
On the day that it happened,
My life became a mess.
My soul was left unguarded,
Heart displaced and mind adrift, nothing left to fix.
And my whole world? It was gone.
It never really stood a chance.
On the day you died.
