It Feels Like Rain

It Feels Like Rain

The air is warm and nestles around me,
Grey skies lower and seem to sit on my head.
The finches are silent and perch low on the branch,
They seem to know the earth soon will be fed.

People are smiling and quick on their way,
This first drops hold promise of heady release.
This land so withered and parched by the sun,
Will soon know a measure of watery peace.

Good description of imminent rain...we could use a few of those drops in my area!

I loved this Barbara. The last line of the first stanza is my favorite. You have painted such a wonderful picture. For some reason this brings me back to childhood in Jamaica. Great stuff.

Can feel the thirst of the land and sense the oncoming rain. Excellent imagery. Love, Shar
