Notes About The Poem

It Broke My Heart

I see a tree torn and uprooted, before me: there is a brisk breeze, nothing like it had to bear, I swear, a gust of air gone mad dropped this debris. I was surprised the twister got so strong, so fast: appearing late at night, I was caught unaware and didn't know of the danger till the die was cast. My town was mowed down, pieces are strewn all around, homes got blown apart; it broke my heart to be there: crying on my phone, trying to describe that sound.

Dear emile, this is so poignant and well written for the contest. It breaks my heart too to even read about this, and i can imagine how you would have felt! So deeply moving! I especially felt “cast. Our town was mowed down; pieces were thrown all around, homes got blown apart; it broke my heart to be there; alone on my phone, trying to describe that sound” devastating! Sending you and your loved ones light always. Best wishes for the contest

This is so sad, I can feel the desolation your words can evoke. For one who has not experienced this for a while, I can commiserate. We can just say, life moves on beyond this devastation.
