It Broke My Heart

I see a tree stripped, torn, and ripped, there before me;
there's a sight breeze, a tease of what it had to bear,
I swear a gust of air gone mad left this debris.
It feels wrong that the twister got so strong, so fast;
appearing out of the blue, no one grew aware;
we didn't know where it would go till the die was cast.
Our town got mowed down, the pieces strewn all around,
homes were blown apart; it broke my heart to be there;
alone on my phone, trying to describe that sound.
