I leave the window open. She used to say how beautiful it was in the morning, To wake to the sound of the birds singing. Each night, before she lay down to sleep, She wanted to make sure: “it all got done” Now she has lain down for the last time. All who knew and loved her know: “It all got done” The earth may know its rain a thousand years; Yet never know the pain in one man’s tears
