Isis Not the Nicest

ISIS not the Nicest

What can be worse than evil unless it is the devil

He who causes heads to lie on an anvil

Or be completely cut off in mid-air;

About any of this, what could possibly be fair?


Life laid aside by being so brutally struck

Whose whole life was now out of luck

So said and will we ever know why

By hands of a beast, he would have to die.


Now an American died who was mis-placed

His problems at home could not be faced;

How much longer will all of this last

Until it finally becomes part of the past.

Gary Bateman September 8, 2014 at 3:29 AM Jim, You have seen my poem on ISIS as I submitted it last month. I share your sentiments. When all else fails, we poets must act as the world's conscience. Our poetry brethren should not shrink from writing on sometimes difficult and not too pleasant of topics. If not, why the hell are any of us writing?? Linda James Horn August 27, 2014 at 5:05 AM This is ISIS's idea of being cut off from society of rom your family. Only they took it literally. Now that they are in over their heads, they think that by beheading they will arouse more curiosity which is more like becoming a monstrosity causing blood to flow from a low, thin viscosity.
