Is She the One? For T. M. Moreland
I've been searching across the nation from coast to coast
Around each corner I wonder is she the one?
She has my eyes but not my nose, does she have the little gap
in her smile? It is hard to tell from this angle; I need to get closer.
I've been searching for my mother; the one who gave me away thirty-five years ago.
Time moves effortlessly across this sky.
Wonders come and stay or go.
I never stop wondering though, "Is she the one?"
I want to know the whys and the lady who gave me away.
Put her hand in mine and see if they are the same.
Is she the one? I want to know.
Dedicated to my mama, Sara, who was adopted into a loving home as a baby.
