Is It Worth Losing

Well I sent off the money
Kissed those Presidents "Good BY"
With this poem I have penned
Hell Bent, to win the prize

They said it'd take some time
As far as judging goes
I needn't now reply
Cause they would let me know

I was quick to reach their deadline
Within a day or two
But as for getting back to me
There was nothing I could do

Now months have come, and slipped away
And nary not a word
Even if by chance 'I lost'
You think I would have heard

So now I sit and wonder
Just where'd my money go
Perhaps it's at a pristine beach
On the coast of Mexico

Or may it's in India
Buying Modak, that'd be funny
Or even in Nigeria
To purchase wine that made from honey

All I know, is what I've learn
That these Contest are a ruse
And never give-up Presidents
For the sacred right to lose

Well, I loved this poem Jerry and if I don't really like a poem, I just don't comment, so you can trust my word on it. This has great wit and it really makes you wonder who is judging these contests and what pull they have. Have a great new year! Connie

Also, the Missouri State Poetry Society is hosting their Winter contest. Anyone can enter, and they have a HUMOR category. You'd win hands down!

Here's a way to win, Jerry. Enter a Cento poetry contest. A Cento is a poem composed of lines written by other poets. Galaxy of Verse is hosting a new Spring contest, which includes a Cento category.
